Leroy E Kuchler, age 78, suddenly passed away at his home in Vernal on April 17, 2015. He was born to Clarence S. and Helen Marie Kuchler on May 21, 1936, In Hayden, Colorado. He was the youngest of eight children. He married Betty Jean Smith on April 27, 1957 in Craig, Colorado. They married in the Salt Lake City Temple on October 3, 1972. She was the love of his life for 57 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1961 being honorably discharged settled in Vernal and started a family. He moved his family to Craig Colorado where they lived for several years. He drove truck, worked in the Gilsonite Mine, and was self-employed doing execration work in Craig and drilled water wells in Colorado and Utah after moving back to Vernal. He retired about 10 years ago. He enjoyed the outdoors, going for rides, hunting, camping; he would go fishing whenever he got a chance. Leroy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Helen and son, Lonnie all of Vernal; 8 grandchildren, Blake, Amanda, Owen, Jeanie, Keenan, Kyle, Shawn, and Keith, 6 great grandchildren, James, Chance, Jayden, Jraxton, Taylor and Stormy. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stella Jean; Parents, Clarence and Helen, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Family and friends may call at the Mortuary Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 and on Wednesday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by American Legion, services have been entrusted to the care of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
