Linda Lee Shimmin

Linda Lee Shimmin, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home April 2, 2025. She was born May 9, 1940 in Orem, Utah to Golda and Parnelle Pratt.

Linda attended Brigham Young University, and received her undergraduate degree in Fine Arts. She later received her Masters of Art at Utah State University.

In 1963 Linda moved to Vernal and inspired young minds, teaching art and music at Vernal Junior High and Uintah High School. She found joy in empowering her students and her students adored her.

Linda met the love of her life, John Shimmin and they united in marriage in 1976. They were blessed with a son, Daniel Christopher, who completed the family.

Linda was a shining example of dedication and service at the St. James Catholic Church and P.E.O. She had the privilege of serving as P.E.O. Chapter C president multiple times and also had the honor of serving as State President for a year. Linda would have celebrated a remarkable 50 years with P.E.O. this May 2025.

Linda was a gifted artist. She showcased and sold her beautiful paintings throughout the state of Utah. She had a passion for playing the piano, swimming, hiking, and camping. She treasured time with her family at the cabin and on the river.

Linda lived a dream traveling the world with her husband, embracing incredible opportunities to scuba dive, hike, and capture the majestic beauty of African wildlife through her art.

Linda is survived by children Dan Shimmin (Shannon), Linda Grua (Cliff), Stewart Shimmin (Kris), Verna Stills (Ty); grandchildren Jessi Calder (Bryan), Joviann Inman, Gabriel and Ariana Shimmin, Josh and John Shimmin; great grandchildren MacKenzie Davis (Kyler), Michael, Kael, and Conner Calder; Great, Great grandchildren Matthew and Nathaniel Davis, and Lachlan Calder.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband John Shimmin, her parents Parnell and Golda Pratt and siblings Jeanine Twitchell, Susan Harker, and Stephen Pratt.

The family invite friends and loved ones to celebrate Lindas life at a memorial service on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 10 am at the St. James Catholic Church 138 N 100 W Vernal, UT.
