Lorraine Slaugh

Lorraine Holmes Slaugh passed away peacefully August 15, 2016 after a long battle with Heart and Lung Disease. She was born December 5, 1934 to Emma Christine Olsen and William Wallace Holmes. She grew up one of eight children. She marred the love of her life, Earl Slaugh on October 6, 1951. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple on October 25, 1962. She raised three children, JoDean, Jeffrey Earl and Darin E Slaugh. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the church in many positions, some of them being Junior Sunday School Coordinator, Primary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, and Temple Worker to name a few. She was born with a bad heart but didn't let that slow her down. She worked hard to provide for her family. Sometimes working two and three jobs at a time. She was a great cook and could make a feast out of next to nothing. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 25 years, Her parents and grandparents, One sister, Barbara Jo (Paul) Caldwell, Two brothers, Don Wallace (Norma) Holmes and Glenn Milton Holmes, Daughter-in-law Mishell (Shelly) Luck Slaugh. She is survived by her children, JoDean Slaugh, Jeffrey Earl(Jill) Slaugh, & Darin E. (Stephanie) Slaugh all of Vernal, 9 Grandchildren, Erica (Zachary) Goodrich, Roosevelt, Wacy Earl (Alyssa) Slaugh, Vernal, Earl Jared (Ashley) Slaugh, Vernal, Casadee J (Jeffrey) Meacham, Vernal, Landon Jeffrey(Erin) Slaugh, Logan, Chancy Darin (Sequoyah Wilkins) Slaugh, Vernal, Macady Mishell (Brandon Stubbs)Slaugh, Vernal, Tayler Vickie Szarek, & Bryce Jarke Szarek, Kearns. Seven and ½ Great Grandchildren, Paislee Ann Slaugh, RyLeigh Brooklynn Slaugh Wylee Wacy Slaugh, Jacelynn Mishell Meacham of Vernal, Packer Tate Slaugh of Logan, Addison Jean Goodrich of Roosevelt, and another Great Grand baby due in January. Four brothers, Lyle Holmes, Duane (Gayla) Holmes, Mac (Marion) Holmes, and Glade (Darlene) Holmes all of Vernal and several nieces and nephews who considered her a second Mother and Grandmother. She is a great lady whose presence will be missed but not forgotten. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Davis 1st & 4th LDS Ward Chapel. (3990 South 1500 East). A viewing for family and friends will be at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary Friday evening from 6-8 and at the Chapel 9-9:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.
