Lynn Charles Smuin
09/02/1941 – 07/22/2024
Lynn was born on September 2, 1941 in Salt Lake City Utah to Kenneth and Thelma Beynon Smuin. He passed away on July 22, 2024 from a broken heart.
He moved to Vernal around the age of four and lived in Frog Town. He was a very adventurous boy and loved playing sports. He played football, basketball, track and his true love was “wrastlin”. He met the love of his life, Pauline Martinsen, in junior high. They dated in high school. Upon graduating from Uintah High School, he left to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northwest Central States. To his delight, the love of his life was waiting when he returned. They were married on May 3, 1963 in Elko, Nevada, and sealed in the Provo, Utah Temple on October 21, 1989.
They settled in Vernal Utah and raised a family. Lynn was known as the Fuller Brush salesman. He coached little league football and helped his brother Leon Smuin coach wrestling. He was an avid Uintah wrestling fan and enjoyed playing golf. He loved watching football, basketball, wrestling and golf. He was a great armchair quarterback. For Lynn there was no such thing as a stranger. They were just a friend he hadn’t met. He always made time to visit with EVERYONE. Later in life he insisted on feeding the entire Uinta Basin with corn, potatoes and fresh Green River watermelon, all in his bare feet.
Lynn was survived by his children: Janette (Kelly) Jones, of New Castle, WY; Sonja (Vance) Norton, of Vernal, UT; Marsha (Ron) Gardner, of Vernal, UT; Ulene (James) Jensen, of Mapleton, UT; Isaac (Carrie Beth) Smuin, of Cypress, TX; Stephanie (Wes) Gilroy, of Vernal, UT; 23 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; siblings: Joan (Floyd) Collett and Chick (Jean) Beynon. He is preceded in death by his angel wife, Pauline; his parents; Sons: Morgan and Neil; Siblings: Leon, Charlotte and Steve Smuin.
