Madge Gurr Jackson 92 passed away December 27th 2014. at Ashley Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was born March 21, 1922 to George Albert and Alice Victoria White Gurr. She was the 7th of 10 children. Born and raised in Vernal and lived here all her life. She married John William (Bill) Jackson March 24th 1941, it was later solemnized in the Provo Utah Temple in April 25th 1997. Together they had 8 children. She was a hard worker all her life, helped with the farming, while raising 8 children. She also helped build many miles of fences. She was a cook at Trailway Cafe and also Gateway Cafe. She worked many years as head laundry person at Dinosaur Inn Motel. She retired at the age of 80. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints. She worked as a ward librarian, and secretary. She love family gatherings, being surrounded by her family going on the mountain, and was a loyal fan to the Utah Jazz, whether they would win or lose. She is survived by children daughter-in-law Lori Jackson of Jensen Utah; daughter, Beverly (Nolan) Edwards of Salt Lake City, UT; Barbara (Jimmy) Smuin, Nolan (Pam) Jackson, Richard (Janet) Jackson all of Vernal. Kerry Jackson of Craig, Colorado; and Ronnie (Midge) Jackson of Vernal Utah. 32 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Her sister, Lola Peterson of Vernal, Utah. She is preceded in death by parents, husband Bill Jackson, son Douglas, daughter, Billie Sue Lind, 2 grandsons John Rowley and Kelly Jackson, great grandson Derrick Smuin; brothers, and sisters Lawrence and Earl Gurr, Myrtle Murray, Thelma Scott, Ella (Shiner) Allen, Bernice Jackson, Freda Abplanalp, Vera Gurr. She will be greatly missed by all. We love you mom, and granny. Funeral service will be Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ashley Creek Ward (4080 South 2500 East) friends and family may call at the Mortuary, Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 and at the chapel one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park, services are under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
