Marion Mick Caldwell, passed away at age 80, surrounded by his family who were blessed to be by his side to hear one last story and say their last goodbyes. He was born in Vernal, Utah to Blake and Mildred Oaks Caldwell on June 10, 1933. He married his wife of 60 years JoAnne Hatch on August 9, 1953. In 1951 he joined the navy and served for 4 years. After being honorably discharged he and Joanne made their home in Vernal, Utah, He went to work for Bureau of Reclamation doing Core Drilling on Dams, after a short employment with Halliburton. In 1959 he opened his first barbershop and was the towns barber until he went to work selling cars for Carlisle Chevrolet and Perry Motors. He owned his own oil field business for 10 years. Micks favorite hobbies were golf, golf and more golf. He loved woodworking and was a very proud owner of his one winning race horse, Micks Payday. Mick was a member of the Jr. Chambers of Commerce and enjoyed coaching his sons in Bantam Basketball and Jr. Jazz. He loved watching Jazz basketball and Fox news, and of course telling stories. Mick is survived by his wife JoAnne of Vernal, Bob (Claudine) Caldwell of Roosevelt, Kim (Rocky) Mecham of Mt. Home, Kelly (Mike) Shelton of Evanston, WY, and Luke (Kelsea) Caldwell of Roy, UT. He has 28 grandkids and 21 great grandchildren. Mick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Duane and wife June Caldwell, Therrel Caldwell; sister, Althera Mulkey. Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Vernal 2nd ward Chapel. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and on Thursday one hour prior the services. Burial will be in the Maser Fairview Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 11 and National Guard. Services have been entrusted to the care of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
