Maurine Jones Anderson of Vernal, UT, age 103, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2015 of natural causes at the Uintah Care Center. Maurine was born in Logan, UT on March 22, 1911 to Clarence Edward Jones and Olive Alberta Lambert Jones. Maurine married Albert LaRell Anderson in Twin Falls, ID on October 22, 1934. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, September 20, 1937. They settled in Vernal, UT to raise their five sons: Gary, Court, Brent, Don, and Kent. Maurine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings in Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School, and as a faithful Visiting Teacher. She was supportive of her husband in building the Uintah Packing Company. LaRell and Maurine along with their five sons worked together to build Grizzly Ridge Ski area. Maurine was an expert seamstress and loved to swim. Maurine was preceded in death by her husband LaRell, her parents, her brother Dwight Jones and sister Alta Zimmerman. Maurine is survived by her five sons and their wives: Gary and Leah Anderson of Vernal UT; Court and Judy Anderson of American Fork, UT currently serving a LDS mission in Italy; Brent and Renae Anderson of Ephriam, UT; Don and Elja Anderson of Vernal, UT; Kent and Renee Anderson of Vernal, UT; 22 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Ashley 2nd Ward Chapel (3040 North Vernal Ave., Vernal, UT). Friends and family may call at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the Chapel one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Maeser Cemetery.
