Milton Scott Valora, 81, passed away on the evening of April 7, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Born February 7, 1935 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Preston and Mable Daubenspeck Valora, he was the sixth of eight children. Milton graduated from Rangely High School where he was active in wrestling and track. He and his brothers spent much of their youth and teenage years roaming the hills of western Colorado in pursuit of "buckskin". The Robert Steele family of Rangely, Colorado was a powerful force for good in Milton's life. Milton graduated from high school in 1954 with his brother and partner in crime Pete. He enlisted in the Air Force thereafter and served until he was honorably discharged in 1958 to serve an LDS mission in Northern California. After returning from his mission he married Ruby Laraine Reese in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Milton and Ruby lived in Provo, Utah where he attended BYU and earned a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science. They moved to Vernal in 1971 and started Valora's Wood & Produce. Milton enjoyed watching BYU football, stargazing, and the outdoors. He took time to teach his daughters well and appreciated a good joke. He will be deeply missed by his sweetheart Ruby of 54 years; his eight daughters: Amber (Robert) Snyder, Cherry Colton, Mindy (Preston) Taylor, Tami Valora, Christy (John) Nerdin, Brandi Duke (Lynn), Ginger Valora, Brittany (Thomas) Schlosser, his 12 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, and his siblings, Dorothy Krick, Mary Bohrn, and Peter J. Valora. A memorial service to celebrate Milton's life will be held on July 23, 2016. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
