*****Blackburn Vernal Mortuary is not handling the services for Cody. His family has asked us to share his obituary to inform family and friends of our community.*****
Passed away unexpectedly January 21, 2025. Cody was born July 14, 1977 at LDS hospital in SLC, UT to Mitchell Chris Walk and Laurie Janette Nielsen, later divorced. Cody took it upon himself to step up to the plate and help raise his brother Billy and his sister Amy-Jo. He was always mature and worried about everyone else’s well being. Cody graduated from Uintah High School in 1995 with a scholarship for diesel mechanics and acquired his associates degree in 1996. After graduating he worked for Wheeler Machinery for 23 years, doing what he loved best, turning wrenches. He left Wheeler machinery and started working for Operating Engineers Local 3 in December 2018, becoming a business agent. He was a proud Union member for 29 years. Cody was a hard, honest, dedicated worker and passionate about his work quality. His greatest accomplishment was providing for his family and recent move to Holden, UT where his family could enjoy their outdoor adventures. If you knew Cody, everything was always torn apart to make it perfect. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, and was always willing to help anyone out. He took on a whole new challenge when he met and later married the love of his life Shirlynn on February 27th, 2009. Cody was feet first and dove right in to raise Shirlynn’s two boys, Tanner Ross Hardy and Braiden Joe Hardy as his own sons. Little did he know that this also came as a package deal with Robert, Monica, and Jayda Ridge. They then welcomed “the walk boys” Rylan Cody Walk and Mason LeGrande Walk (one big dysfunctional family of 9). Cody’s amazing work ethics and huge heart will be remembered through the success of his 4 boys, Sargent Tanner Hardy currently serving as a US Marine, Braiden following local 3 becoming a heavy equipment operator, Rylan with his quick “wit” and photogenic memory and Mason with his lack of patience and ability to fix anything. I will miss watching you work in the garage with your boys arguing about what truck is better (Chevy, Dodge, or Ford) that has still been undecided. Cody is remembered and loved by his Wife (Shirlynn), Sons (Tanner, Braiden, Rylan, and Mason), Father (Mitchell Chris Walk), Mother (Laurie Janette Nielsen), Brother William Walk (Shandee), Sister Amy-Jo (Don), Mother in law Shirlene Brace (Craig), Brother in law Robert Ridge, Sister in law Monica Ridge, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. Preceded in Death by Grandparents, Mark Nielsen, Amy Nielsen, William Walk, Leneta Walk and Father in law (Wayne Ross Brace)
"We will miss you more than you can ever imagine - love your wife and sons."
"Go Rest High on that Mountain, Son. Until we meet again - Love you forever Mom”
In lieu of flowers, there has been an account set up at OE Federal Credit Union (#801-566-1753) for donations to help his family.
