Myrna Joy Banner
December 13, 1938 to May 21, 2019
Myrna Joy Mathis Banner passed away peacefully from a stroke with her family by her side in her home.
Myrna was born December 13, 1938 in Vernal, Utah to Thomas Ervin Mathis and Pearl Ann Barnes.
Myrna was their youngest child and was a twin to Marvin Mathis he died as an infant.
Myrna was married to Ralph Blaine Tiffany in 1955 they later divorced.
Myrna met the love of her life Warren William Banner in San Diego California and they were married on August 26, 1967 in Las Vegas Nevada and together they raised her 4 children.
Myrna was a homemaker, she enjoyed being outdoors and loved to camp and fish with her boys and husband, she also loved working in her yard and garden and canned everything she grew, her house was spotless she always said “no matter how poor you are you can still have a clean house.”
Myrna also worked as a waitress at Diamond Hills restaurant in Vernal, she was as a housekeeper at St. Helena Hospital in California. Myrna and Warren owned and operated a bakery in Moab Utah for a few years.
She was very compassionate and generous to everyone she met, she loved all of her nieces and nephews and they loved her.
When anyone would come to visit, she always wanted to feed you or get you something to drink, she was a fantastic cook.
Myrna was a very active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Her favorite past time was watching game shows on TV and spoiling her dog Toby.
She is survived by her husband Warren Banner, daughter Vickie Ainge (Morgan) Vernal Utah, sons Paul Tiffany (Carolyn) Eldorado Hills California, Jimmy Banner (Cecilia) Ogden UT. Scott Tiffany (Jeanie) Vernal UT. and 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great -great grandchild.
Preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings- Maxine Swain, Beverly Swain-Workman, Audrey Murray-Brady, Kenneth Mathis, Colene Eggelston, and her twin brother Marvin Mathis.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday May 30th from 6-8 pm at the Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary and Cremation Care.
