Myrna Coleene Cook Batty, age 82, of Vernal, made a peaceful exit from her earthly status at her home, her family surrounding her with their love, on July 6, 2020. Her kind, beautiful, giving, and special spirit will be with us always.
Myrna was born on February 3, 1938 in Price, Carbon County, Utah to Dick Roe and Lola Irene Bentley Cook. Myrna was the 4th of 7 children born to the couple, 5 of which lived to maturity.
They resided in Price and Wellington, Utah, until she was 8 years old when her mother passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 1946. The family then moved to Boneta, Utah and Myrna became a graduate of Altamont High School in 1956.
She met, then fell deeply in love with the man of her dreams, and married Neal Batty on April 29,1961 in Boneta, Utah at the home of her sister, Lorna. The couple made their home in Vernal, Utah and were blessed with 2 daughters, Tonya (Joe) Alexander, and Tiya (Marty) Armstrong, 6 grandchildren, Ace Neal Batty, Alexis (Jammie) Cox, Jadrian Jordan, Jake (Nikki) Jordan, Vanessa, and Whitney Armstrong, and 3 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Acey Jo and Karson.
Myrna had a heart of gold, and her acts of love were given often and freely without asking for anything in return. Her home was always open to everyone and anyone, and it didn't matter what time of day or night it was! Her bubbling personality and spunky wit was a hit with all, and she drew people to her with her vivacious and loving spirit.
Myrna is survived by her husband, Neal Batty; daughters and sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings Lorna (Martin) Brotherson, and Corene (Kenneth) Calder.
Myrna is preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Ace Neal Batty, her brothers Brigham Bentley, Douglas Earl, her sisters Rae Ann (Frank) Julian, Patsy Ruth (Leon) Safley, and brothers-in-law, Martin Brotherson and Leon Safley.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 11 am at the Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary . Viewing will be held Thursday 9:30-11. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.
