Today we gather with family and friends to remember a very special lady.
Myrna Wardle Harrison
She was born at Ashley Valley Hospital on June 2, 1937 to Lowell & Lemar Wardle. She was the 4th of 5 children. She lived her entire life in the Uintah Basin. As a young woman she worked at Vernal Drug for $1 per hour making malts and shakes after school. This is where she met the love of her life Stanley Lou Harrison. They dated for 2 years and were married on April 2, 1956. They finally settled in Davis in a house they built. They had 5 children; she spent her time raising her family and working on the farm. She loved to drive the team of horses and farm tractors. She went to work at the Naples school as a cook. She held many positions over her career from cook to head cook. She even had the lunchroom named in her honor “Myrna’s Munch Room”. She retired after 28 years of a service. She told me Naples School always felt like home. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Where she had various callings in primary, relief society, Sunday school, word music director, pianist and choir just to name a few. She had a deep love for the church and a strong testimony. Her and grandpa liked to go on road trips with Grant & Floy Johnson, and Larry & Leona Richardson, they would use animal sales as the excuse to be gone for 5-6 days. She did get to take the trip of lifetime in 1977 with her friend Lorraine to Hawaii, and a few years ago she came to visit my family in North Dakota, we jumped the border into Canada and had to smuggle her back. She enjoyed bowling with the girls, lunch with the ladies she used to work with, and her Thursday hair appointments. Later in life you could always find Grandma at home in her chair with a coke and her little dog, looking out at all the animals who visited her yard she could tell you in great detail about every one of them. I was blessed to be able to visit grandma towards the end of her amazing life, and she stated to me, “I had quite a life from sheering sheep to raising my boys, they were good kids.”
