Nila Weeks Murray, age 82 of Vernal, Utah passed away on October 31, 2012. She was born June 8, 1930 in Vernal to Nelson Owen and Jessie Holmes Weeks. She married Jerry Macks Murray on June 9, 1947 and together they had two children; Keith and Marlene. They later divorced. Nila worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell, as a hostess at the Alta Club, and as a receptionist at several businesses. She earned her GED at age 45 and continued her education at Salt Lake Community College in the business field. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. She loved to travel and crochet. Nilas ancestors came to Utah with the early Mormon settlers. She was very proud of her pioneer heritage. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and ability to make friends with anyone she came in contact with. Nila is survived by her children; Keith (Linda) Murray of Vernal, and Marlene Kay (Darwin) Holden of Farmington, New Mexico, brother; Nelson Gene Weeks, sister; Neita (Jerry) White, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister; Eva Swett. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary with viewings Tuesday evening from 6-8 and one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park under the care and direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
