Norma Eaton Murray Baker passed away peacefully June 15, 2013, at her home with members of her family at her side. She was born January 16, 1927, in Vernal, Utah, to Marcus Elfonzo and Nellie Merle Fisher Eaton. Norma spent her early years with her family at Rainbow, south of Vernal. One of her fondest memories at Rainbow was the little chair in a rock. Norma married Ray Milton Murray November 22, 1945, in Vernal. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 5, 1951. They had three sons, Kenneth Ray, Terry Jay, and Randy Kay. Their favorite family times were spent on the mountain camping, fishing and hunting deer. She always carried her own gun and killed her own deer. Ray and Norma loved to go dancing and especially square dancing and had several years enjoying this before Rays health failed. Ray died July 20, 1980. Norma worked at Mary Johnsons Beauty Shop, Reva Borens Beauty Shop, D-T Western Store and the Bull Ring. Normas spare time was spent crocheting and working in her yard. She made wedding cakes for newlyweds for many years. She was very active in the LDS Church at this time. She taught Primary for many years was 1st Counselor to the Primary President, Primary President, and Secretary of the MIA. She met Barton E. Baker and they were married March 27, 1982. They have enjoyed doing the same things and have done some traveling. They enjoyed their retirement by spending four or five winter months in Yuma, Arizona, the past 20 years, in a park model they purchased. Norma is survived by her husband, Barton E. Baker, two sons, Terry (Corinne) Murray of Delta, Utah, and Randy Murray of Salt Lake City; three grandsons, Marty, Mark and Dustie; and one great-grandson, Tucker, and (one great-grandson on the way), all of Delta, Utah. In her extended family, she is survived by one stepson, John Baker of Vernal, Utah; one stepdaughter, Bonnie Taylor of Seattle, Washington; and two step-grandsons, two step-granddaughters, and one step great-granddaughter. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray Milton Murray; one son, Kenneth Ray Murray; baby Carolyn; brothers, Lloyd E. Eaton and Veldon F. Eaton; one sister, Lola Eaton; and a grandson, Dirk Raymond Murray. Funeral services for Norma Eaton Murray Baker will be held at the Vernal LDS Chapel at 250 North 200 West, on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 11 A.M. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday and one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be In the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
