Orval I Ashpaugh

Orval I Ashpaugh Jr., 78, of Vernal, died Sunday, February 8th 2014, at his home. He was born to Orval I and Louise Ashpaugh, Sept 21 1935, in Arnett Oklahoma. He married Mary Helen Redding in 1960, and they lived together in Vernal, UT Orval was District Mechanic for Halliburton for 35 years. He went to work for Halliburton when he was 19 in Oklahoma, it was during that time he served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. After his active service he was transferred to Vernal where he met and married Helen. When he retired from Halliburton he went to work at Dalbo for 15 years were he ran the disposal plants south of Vernal. The friends and collogues he made during those years were very special to Orval. Orval and Helen loved their grandchildren and enjoyed their family and friends. He enjoyed taking anyone fishing and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. Orval is survived by his two daughters: Valen (Darrell) Francisco of Pittsburgh, PA; Wendy Ashpaugh (Wallace Dean) of Vernal UT, who took care of Orval during his long fight with Alzheimer's; and his grandchildren, Amanda (Jon) Daggett of Vernal UT; Thomas Orval Lyman of Pittsburgh, PA and Daren Francisco of Pittsburgh, PA. He also is survived by his special great-granddaughter Kadence Daggett of Vernal, UT. His sister Juanita Haren of Arnett OK; brother Floyd (Phillis)Ashpaugh of Arnett OK; Willa Johnson of Shadduck OK; Gene Ray Ashpaugh of Higgins TX; LeEtta (Harland) Apple of Shreveport LA. Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved dearly. Orval was preceded in death by his wife Mary Helen Ashpaugh; Mother and Father and 3 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. Friends and family may call at the Mortuary one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by American Legion and Utah National Guard, services have been entrusted to the care of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
