Patricia (Pat) Emma Sutton McNeill, age 83 was reunited with her loving husband May 22nd, 2021. She was born in Los Angeles, California Oct 2nd, 1937 to James Brown Sutton and Stella Swainston. She moved to Idaho with her family when she was about 3, by train. They later moved to Vernal where she graduated from Uintah High School. Pat married Leland Earl McNeill September 18th, 1959. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City temple in August 1976.
She lived a full life of service. Currently, she was the President of the Pink Ladies at the Ashley Valley Medical Center. She enjoyed serving in the library for many years in the Vernal 4th ward and was well known there as Grandma Pat. Tea parties were another favorite service project she shared with many of her great grand-daughters. She loved coaching her kids, grand kids and many others in the rodeo arena. Her motto was “Do as I say not as I do”. She loved serving her own family the most of all.
Grandma worked at many jobs. She was the clerk auditor for Uintah County and secretary for the Uintah Basin Rodeo Team. She was also the owner/manager of McNeill’s Market, McNeill’s Ranch and The County Grub in Naples. She was such a hard worker that many of these jobs overlapped while raising 5 kids.
Grandma loved horses all her life. She and Grandpa moved East of Vernal onto the McNeill Ranch after they were married. They raised their kids on the ranch. The ranching and rodeo life was a dream come true for her. She loved raising colts especially palomino babies. This year every colt is palomino!!!
UTAH JAZZ ALL THE WAY!!!! She is a very enthusiastic Jazz fan. She would yell, scream and coach them from her chair with diet coke in hand. Blake Shelton and the Voice is another of her loves. She enjoyed calling family members after the show.
She is survived by her 5 children: Lori (Bruce) Pulham, Kristy McNeill, Cory (Shayla) McNeill, Kary McNeill, and Marcie Sullivan. Her brothers Kenny (Pam) Sutton and Gary (Pat) Sutton. Sister-in-laws Merlene Hall and Dana Sutton. Grandma’s 17 grandchildren and 38 great great children have been the light of her life.
Grandma is preceded in death by her husband Leland Earl McNeill, Mike Sutton(brother), Jimmy Sutton(brother), Ellie Mae Pulham (great grand-daughter) Batty Hart (sister-in-law), and TJ McNeill (brother-in-law).
Funeral services will be held for Grandma June 2nd, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Vernal 4th Ward Chapel (235 E 600 S, Vernal, Ut). A viewing will be held Tuesday June 1st, 2021 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. and an hour prior to services Wednesday. Burial will be in the Rock Point Cemetery.
