Phebe Jane Merkley Hall

Phebe Jane Merkley Hall passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024, at the age of 95 in Vernal, Utah. Phebe was born on November 12, 1928 in Vernal, Utah to Morgan Merkley and Irma Carpenter Merkley. She was the 7^th of 8 children. 

Phebe graduated from Uintah High School in 1946. She married Charles W (Peck) Hall and they later divorced. They were the parents of two boys, Joe and Larry.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings and especially enjoyed serving in the Primary. She had the opportunity to serve two missions. She served in the Florida, Tampa Mission in the mid 80’s. She later served a family history mission in the England, London South mission in the early 90’s.

Phebe worked at several cafes in Vernal and as a secretary for a law office, Uintah School District, Ashley National Forest Service, and Williams. Phebe never met a stranger. She loved telling stories and visiting with everyone she saw. She had a big soft spot in her heart for young children.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Gloria) Hall, her four grandchildren; Camille (Jason) Searle, Chad (Misti) Hall, Janell (Sam) Hunter, and Brant (Rachel) Hall, 13 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren with another one on the way, and her brother; George D. Merkley.

She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Wood Hall, her parents, Morgan and Irma Merkley, siblings, Glinden Merkley, Clella Merkley, Sybil Bohn, June Merkley, Velda Hansen, and Veda Parkin.

A special thanks to Chad and Misti Hall and the many people who loved and cared for Phebe at the Beehive Home in Naples for the last few years. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 11 am at the Maeser Stake Center with viewings held Wednesday, from 6-8 pm at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, and Thursday 1hr prior to service at the chapel. Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
