Rena Dawn McMickell Lopez

Rena Dawn Mcmickell Lopez, age 60, passed away in her home on September 1, 2023 with one of her beloved sisters by her side. She was born in Vernal, Utah on January 19, 1963 to Kenna Sue Oaks, and Virgil Lynn Mcmickell. Rena was the youngest of 5 children. She moved around to Salt Lake City, Springville, Woods Cross, and Wyoming, then back to Vernal where she stayed. Rena was a member of the LDS church, where her grandpa Ottley baptized Rena and 3 of her siblings, Mike, Randy and Tami. Rena got married to Troy Lopez December 31, 1982 then later divorced. Rena loved everything outdoors. She loved floating the river so much that one day she went back-to-back while pregnant with her first-born Trenton. Rena loved collecting seashells, rocks and all things with Indian culture. She had 3 children; Trenton, Trevis and Mariah. She had 2 grandchildren; Kyrsten and Kendyl, that she loved very much. Even with one hip she would figure out how to get on the ground to play with them. She loved collecting nick naks to give to them an she thought she was closer to Kyrsten, but as I started hearing stories about how mean she was when she was younger, I figured out who Kendyl gets it from.  Rena always had good intentions and would go without just to help someone. She never told anyone no when they needed help, she was very loving and had a huge heart.

Funeral Services for Rena McMickell Lopez will be conducted Friday, September 8, 2023 at 11 AM at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.

Viewings will be Thursday 6-8 PM and Friday 1 hour prior burial in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.
