Robert Burke Morrison, age 89 of Vernal, Utah passed away at the Uintah Care Center on February 11, 2012. He was born in Monroe, Utah on October 10, 1922 to Andrew and Minnie Louise Simonsen Morrison. He married Laura Alice Millecam on March 9, 1948. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Bob graduated from Barber's School in 1948 and then spent time in the US Army during WWII. He was a Platoon Staff Sergeant in the 21st Infantry Regiment and served in the Philippines and Japan. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and fulfilled many callings as a Stake Missionary, Temple Worker, Family History Library Worker, Boy Scout Leader, and High Priest Group Leader. He was also a member of the Search and Rescue, Vernal Rod and Gun Club, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, and Archery Club. Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, and caught "Old Moe"; a 40 pound lake trout from Flaming Gorge. He also received many archery and bowling trophies in his lifetime. Bob is survived by his children; Barbara Lou (Vaughn) Schulthies, Ranee (Mark) Feltch, Rodney Bud (Lesa) Morrison, and Mary Ann (Rick) Gardner, sisters; Mavis (Ralph) Kotter, Peggy Lou (Doug) Nielson, and Connie Rae (Kent) Parsons, 17 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings; Mildred Morrison and Kix B. Morrison. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Vernal 7th Ward LDS Chapel. Viewings will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with military honors by the American Legion Post 124 and 11 and the Utah Army National Guard. Services were entrusted to the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
