Robert Young

Robert Milton Young of Lapoint, UT passed from mortality on December 16, 2015. Born on April 7, 1928 in Dolores, Colorado to Ray Warriner Young and Elizabeth Clarissa Clark. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Betty Jean (Merz) Young and their eight children: Anne (Myren) Iverson of Layton, UT; Cathy (John) Atherton of Lapoint, UT; Kelly Young of Vernal, UT; Karen Pendrake of Riverton, UT; Wayne (Jennifer) Young of Orem, UT; Sherri (Jeff) Donohoo of Lapoint, UT; Jody (Danielle) Young of Sandy, UT; and Shelley Wooley of Taylorsville, UT. Adding 42 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild the Young's have left a rich legacy of 116 including their children. His only surviving sibling is Norma Rae Hemsley of Hurricane, UT. Mr. and Mrs. Young moved to the Uintah Basin in the early 1970's settling on a Ranch in Deep Creek. Mr. Young was first and foremost a husband and father: rancher, developer, home builder, scoutmaster, counselor in an LDS Bishopric, Branch President in Emporia, Kansas where he designed and built a special meetinghouse for the Emporia Branch. He loved to work and care for the land in Deep Creek. He loved the area so much he wanted to share its natural beauty with others. He carved out of this land a place of beauty for families like his to build wonderful memories. He continued to be an example of service and faithfulness, always giving of his time, resources and love to anyone he knew. He greatly enjoyed feeding everyone with his pancakes and dutch oven cooking, always with a smile. He will be greatly missed. His viewing will be Tuesday, December 22nd, at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, 15 E 100 N, Vernal, Utah from 6pm to 8pm. On Wednesday, December 23rd, there will be a viewing at the Lapoint Chapel, 6877 N 10600 E, Lapoint, UT at 9:45 am to 10:45 am. The funeral will be Wednesday, December 23rd at 11 am. Following the funeral the internment will be at the Lapoint Cemetery. Under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
