Rodney Blackburn

Rodney "Rod" Sean Blackburn, age 48, of Vernal, Utah left us on Saturday, March 12, 2016 in Vernal, Utah. Rod was born on October 13, 1967 in West Anaheim, California to Robert "Bob" and Sue Blackburn. He was second of five children. He spent most of his young life in Wellington, Utah and graduated from Carbon High School in Price, Utah. He married Renee Rogers in March of 1996, and became the father of her two children Heather and Paul. They were later divorced. Rod and Ronda Gurr Johnson were married on April 12, 2014 and he became the father of Paisley. They had one son together, Rodney Chase "Chase" who was the light in his daddy's eyes. Rod loved playing softball, camping on the beach, and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed the outdoors and hunting with his brothers and nephews. He was looking forward to the day he could take his son Chase hunting with them. Most of his career was spent working in the oilfields. Rod is survived by his wife Ronda, children Heather, Paul, Paisley, and Chase; mother Sue; siblings Scott (Alayna) Blackburn, Susan (Rex) Potter, Ryan (Celestia) Blackburn, and Shawna Blackburn (Scott Rouleau); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, father Bob, and brother-in-law Devin Guymon. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 11:00 a.m. at the Blackburn Mortuary, 15 East 100 North, Vernal, Utah. A viewing will be held on Monday, March 14 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services, At the Blackburn Mortuary.
