Rodney Marvin Jones reunited with his true love Martha, March 12th, 2024. Born second of five children to Joseph Marvin and Viola Elizabeth (Pope) Jones, February 27, 1948, Rod was his own person in every way.
Growing up Rod played sports and enjoyed all the family vacations piled in the car with his siblings visiting family in Idaho and traveling the western states. He graduated from Olympus High School in 1966. In January 1967 Rod was called to serve in the US Army. The family was very relieved he was not deployed to Vietnam and he was proud to serve his country for six years, honorably discharged in January 1973. Rod started working for Mountain Bell telephone while in the US Army Reserve. After several moves around the state, and time working at Uintah Basin Electronic Telecommunications he retired after 40 plus years.
In 1969 Rod married Karla Hall and shortly after was blessed with his first child, a son they named Gregory Marvin, followed by his baby girl Natalie Sue five years later. Rod and Karla later divorced and Rod finally found his soul mate, Martha Davis. They married May 22nd, 1987 and were together until Martha passed away February 11, 2023. Rod and Martha enjoyed taking vacations together, especially their frequent trips to Wendover. Rod was always there to help Martha with all her supplies at the annual craft fair in Vernal. And his most favorite role in life was grandpa.
Rod’s parents instilled a strong love of family and a strong work ethic in their children and Rod was a true testament to their lessons at work and at home. He rarely missed a day of work and you could always find him in the fields with his animals and working on the house.
Rod is preceded in death by his parents, his sweetheart Martha, his son, Greg, niece Kelli Ann Hamilton, and his brother-in-law Richard Tan.
He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Hamilton (Colin) of Murray, Brothers David Jones (Sheri) of Houston, TX, Steven Jones (Tommi) of Lincoln, NE, and sister Suzan Jones (Woods) of Holiday, UT., brother-in-law Walter Pickett of Houston, TX, his Daughter Natalie Lazenby (Shane) of Grantsville, UT, Stepdaughters Debra Davis Of Casper, WY, Leigh Ann Thomas (Brent) of Artesia, NM, and Susan Davis Of Vernal, UT.
