Romania G. Roney Martinsen Freestone Freeman passed away peacefully on October 31, 2012, in Mesa, Arizona. Born May 14, 1915, in Koosharem, Utah, to George Henry and Sarah Mariah Hatch Martinsen, the fifth of ten children, she was reared in Vernal, Utah, where she attended the public schools. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She married Grant Freestone on April 9, 1936, by whom she bore three daughters. After Grants death in 1948, she married Harold Wayne Freeman (who preceded her in death) on September 8, 1953, a union of 52 years. She lived in Vernal; Bingham Canyon; Morgan City, Louisiana; Angola, Africa; Durango, Colorado; and Mesa, Arizona. A loving wife and mother, Roneys life was one of both blessings and challenges. A virtuous woman whose price was far above rubies, she endured well to the end. Her children arise up and call her blessed. She is survived by her three daughters, Carol Jean Rosson of Mesa, Arizona, Janet Haddock (Gerald) of Provo, Utah, and Laraine McChesney (Robert) of Alabaster, Alabama; 11 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lyle J Martinsen (Lora) of Murray, Utah and Wayne D. Martinsen (Etta) of Vernal; a brother-in-law, John Powell, of Vernal; a sister-in-law, Clelia Martinsen, of Vernal; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. November 6 at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, preceded by visitation at 1:00 p.m., with interment in Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery to follow. Service arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
