Ronald "Ron" Glen Horrocks

Ronald Glen Horrocks unexpectedly passed away from a brain aneurysm on Monday, February 3, 2025 at his farm in Lapoint, Utah at the age of 63.

Ron was born on October 26, 1961 in Vernal, Utah to Howard Jack Horrocks, and Karen Lamb Horrocks he was the oldest of 5 children.

Ron loved growing up in Lapoint, riding bikes, riding horses, playing kick the can, swimming in the canal, rolling tires off the Lapoint Hill, hunting pheasants, shooting doves, and hanging out with all his Lapoint buddies.

Ron graduated from Uintah High School in 1980, while in high school he excelled on the wrestling team. When he was a senior, he took 4th at state. His team took home the state title that year it was Uintah’s 14th state championship. His teammates were his lifelong friends. He loved watching his grandson’s wrestle, and going to the Uintah High School wrestling matches.

When Ron was a teenager he was a laborer for the brick layers when they were building the Lapoint church house. When he was a senior in high school he started working on the oil rigs with his dad. Before long he was able to buy a brand-new Chevy short wheel base truck, in his beloved Dallas Cowboy colors.

Ron worked for Lynmar, Chevron, J-West, Westroc, and currently he owned and operated Blue Northern Constructors. Ron made many lasting friendships with many co-workers throughout the years.

Ron married Sonja Lee Serrano, June 5, 1981 their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, and they later divorced. They were blessed with 3 children, Patrick, Jessi, and Megan they also welcomed Mariah into their family.

Ron’s true love was ranching, and farming. His passion was his cows, and horses. He was always looking for a good horse, and knew a good horse when he saw one. He was currently running a herd of black angus cross cows.

He enjoyed hunting, and fishing. His hunting took him all over the world. His last hunting trip was in the Book Cliffs, getting a nice buck. He loved football his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys, never missing a game.

Ron married Kathleen Davis on August 17, 2011 in Midway, Utah their marriage was solemnized in the Vernal Utah Temple on December 5, 2015. He loving added 3 more children into his home, Cazden, Ceely, and Sydney Davis.Ron and Kathy loved to travel taking them to many beautiful places in the world. They loved working on the farm, and attending the Vernal Temple together.

Ron was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the gospel, and his Savior Jesus Christ he had a testimony for the truthfulness of the gospel. Ron held many callings within the church, including serving in the Bishopric. He was currently serving with his wife Kathy in the Vernal Utah Temple as an ordinance worker, and shift coordinator.

Ron was full of compassion, love, charity, and always having a smile on his face. Ron was a hard worker, and spent his life serving others. Ron lived a wonderful life taking him on many exciting adventures. Ron will be greatly missed by all his family and friends

Ron is survived by his wife Kathy Horrocks. Children, Patrick Glen Horrocks, Jessi Horrocks, Megan (Koby) Smith, Mariah (Bowdie) Stubbs, Cazden (Alix) Davis, Ceely (Tyler) Cook, Sydney (Treysen) Anderson. His parents Howard and Karen Horrocks, siblings; DanNette (Randy) Smuin, Richard (Cathy) Horrocks, Ryan Horrocks, and Desiree (Blake) Sutton. Sisters’ in-law Tracy and Julie, brother in-law Johnathan (Mandy) Deebeen, 15 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ronald Taylor and Merl Jenkins Horrocks, Glendon Osmer and Thelma Brinkerhoff Lamb, father in-law Bruce Van Dyke Deeben, and mother in-law Charlene Ann Reid Jackson. Brothers’ in-law Derick Roy Deeben, James Clarence Deeben, and many aunts and uncles.In lieu of flowers, if would like to donate to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints Missionary Fund or Humanitarian Fund. 

Funeral Services for Ronald will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 12 noon at the Lapoint LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held Friday, from 6-8 PM at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary, and 1 hr prior at the Chapel. Burial will be in the Lapoint Cemetery.
