Sara Elva Locke age 85, of Vernal passed away Wednesday June 27, 2012 at the Uintah Care Center. Elva was born September 30, 1926 in Vernal, Utah to George Elias and Sarah Emma Smuin Johnson. She married Lewis P. Locke at Denver, Co. in 1947. He proceded her in death in 1984. Elva worked as a Telephone Operator at Mtn. Bell Telephone Co. She always loved flowers and keeping her yard looking nice. She worked hard all her life and liked to Crochet and paint with oil paints. She shared her paintings with her family and friends and was a very talented person. Elva did not have any children of her own, but was like a mother to those in her family. She especially liked to get together with her sisters and brother. She was active in her church. She served in the Relief Society Presidency and was a faithful visiting teacher for many years. She loved her poodle dogs and raising Banny Chickens. She is survived by her brother Grant Johnson of Ava, Missouri; sister's Christa Ann Bateman of Grand Junction, Colorado: DeNell Hacking of Vernal, Kay Farnsworth of Gusher, Louise Ross of Vernal, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother Vaughn William; sisters Afton Iliene Richens; Dora May Beaman: and Margie Bolster. Funeral Services will be held at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11 am with a viewing from 9:30 to time of services Burial will be at the Vernal Memorial Park. Services have been entrusted to the loving care of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
