Sylvia Jones

Sylvia Hancock Jones returned home on August 11, 2019. She was born July 30, 1936 in Holbrook, Arizona to Perry Russell and Dorothy Audrey Richards Hancock. Sylvia attended school in Mesa, Arizona. She married her sweetheart Jean R. Jones February 18, 1955 in Mesa AZ. together they had nine children.

Sylvia was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints; she served in many auxiliaries’ services to her Heavenly Father. Sylvia loved the Lord all of her life.  Sylvia and Jean served a18 month LDS mission in Macon Georgia  She loved and served her husband and children with all of her heart. She was devoted to her husband. Her greatest joy was the Gospel of Jesus Christ and her family. She loved to sew and blessed many lives with her talents.

Sylvia is survived by her children: Cathy (Spence) Shumway, Georgia; SueAnn (Tim) Moore, Texas; Ben (Kimberly) Jones, Roosevelt Kelly (Janette) Jones Wyoming; Mike (Shelly) Jones, Vernal; Mark (Jamie) Jones, West Jordan; Clark (Laurie) Jones, Washington; Laurie (Gary) Smith, Vernal; Sherrie (Dee) Brady, Roosevelt ; 39 Grandchildren and 54 Great-Grandchildren

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, August 16, 2019 10:00 AM at the Vernal 1st Ward Chapel (475 West 100 South). Viewing will be at the Blackburn and Sons Vernal Mortuary from 6-8 pm and at the Church from 9:00 -9:45 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Vernal Memorial Park. Services are entrusted to the care of Blackburn & Sons Vernal Mortuary.
