Timothy F Osen

Timothy Francis Osen

Tim Osen, 68, passed away on March 11, 2025, in Vernal, Utah. Tim was born on April 9, 1956, in Pierre, South Dakota, to his beloved parents, Doyle Robert Osen and Audrey (Mickey) Margaret Neises.

Tim moved from Casper to Vernal in 1983 and called it home for the next 42 years. Land & Marine brought him to the basin and was the beginning of his life in the oil & gas industry. Tim retired in 2024 after selling his own successful business, Scan Tech, Inc. He had a career that was as determined as he was, filled with long-lasting respect in the community and everlasting friendships forged along the way.

On July 15, 2006, he married the love of his life, Cindy Birkle, at their home in a beautiful backyard ceremony. They shared a love that so gracefully complemented one another. They always laughed together and were filled with an undeniable care and appreciation for each other until the very end. Their love blessed them with almost 18 years of marriage.

If you ever tried to compete with Tim, you knew you had to bring your all. There was nothing he wasn’t good at: tennis, racquetball, softball, basketball, bowling, cards, and of course, golf. His competitive spirit and grit won him racquetball championships, holes in one, and multiple golf championships. He was known as the Godfather of Golf, a member of the Hooky Club, and a monument at the Dinaland Golf Course.

In his early 40s, Tim bought a beautiful yellow and white Suzuki, which led to many amazing motorcycle trips with his brothers. These trips ranged from riding in the Big Horns of Wyoming, cruising down the Strip in Las Vegas, and visiting monuments such as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Glacier Park, and even venturing into Canada! When those four Osen brothers were together, you could always count on a deck of cards and a game or two of gin.

Tim was a man blessed with so many talents. He could make a flower arrangement like you’d never seen, paint an abstract or realistic piece that would blow your mind, and plant hundreds of flowers in his yard that flourished every summer. He was truly an incredibly well-rounded and talented human.

He was sometimes rough and tumble, yet he melted when his girls were around, a father who was their superhero. He helped them through every aspect of life with honest and loving guidance, something they will miss so much.

Tim is survived by his brothers, Alan Osen and Shawn Osen; his sister, Julie Osen; his wife, Cindy; his daughters, Erica Osen and Erin Hagenston; and his stepchildren, Stacey Powell, Erick Hill, and Kristen Richens. He is also survived by his many grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Those who predeceased him in death are his brother, Steve Osen, and his parents.

The celebration of his life will be on June 28, 2025, at the Dinaland Golf Course, 675 S 2000 E, Vernal, UT 84078. More information to come. Cremation has been provided by Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
