In the early morning hours of December 12, 2014, our sweet mother, Veda Thacker Jorgensen, reached out and left this mortal life to return to her Heavenly Father. She was reunited with the love of her life, her eternal companion, and our father, Leo H Jorgensen. No greater love story have we ever witnessed than the love that our parents shared with each other. Finally, they will live happily ever after. Veda was born July 21, 1935 in Roosevelt, Utah, to Rawlins and Zella Wright Thacker. She was the fourteenth child in a family of seven brothers and six sisters, which prepared her well for the life ahead. She attended school in Roosevelt and Altamont. She married the love of her life, Leo H Jorgensen, in the Salt Lake Temple on December 17, 1952. Together they shared 50 years of love, joy, happiness and tears. He was her rock and she was his sweetheart. Dad passed away April 26, 2003 and she missed him dearly, every day. Mom and Dad had three children: Zellene (Brett) Allred, Hyde Park, UT, Rex Jorgensen and Lisa Jorgensen, both of Vernal . They were great and proud parents and taught their children to love Heavenly Father, to be strong, to work hard and to love and give to others. Their children, 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren have always been at the center of Mom's heart. Mom worked at Christensen's Department Store for many years and then had the opportunity to go to work for Dr. John Shimon as a dental assistant. She loved working and made many lifelong friends. When Mom and Dad retired, they wanted more than anything to serve a mission and were called to the Philippines Cagayan De Oro/Quezon City Mission. Mom always said she had the best missionary companion and soon after their first mission ended, they were called on a second mission to oversee the construction of the Vernal Temple. This mission was so very sacred and special to them and they loved to share stories of their time serving at the temple. Mom will be remembered for her unconditional love, for her beautiful flower gardens, for her delicious cooking and homemade bread but, most of all, for her quilts. Mom made quilts for every family member, for many friends and other loved ones. There are far too many to count but comfort will always be found in one of her quilts. The family would like to thank Dr. Woodward, Dr. Parker, Dr. Shurtliff and Dr. Daniels for the care they gave over the last several years of her life. In addition, there are no words to say to the angels of Good Shepherd Hospice, who have been a part of our lives over the last few months. They did far more than their job. They loved Mom and she loved each of them. Mom's final wish was to be at home in her own bed until the end and these sweet girls made that happen. They also made her smile. We cannot thank you enough for all that was done to make her comfortable. Thank you does not seem enough for these quiet angels that walk among our community doing good work. We love and thank you all. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her sweetheart Leo H Jorgensen, a grandson Michael Jacob Allred (USMC, killed in Iraq), all of her 13 siblings, all of our father's siblings and many friends. We are comforted by the fact that there is a large joyous reunion going on in heaven. We hate to miss the celebration but are grateful to have the great privilege of honoring her life. Friends may call at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary on Friday, December 19, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 11:00 am at the Vernal Third Ward chapel, (475 West 100 South) with a viewing at the chapel one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Rock Point Cemetery, under the direction of the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. www.blackburnvernalmortuary.com
