Virtus Glen McConkie

Virtus Glen McConkie, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home at the Family Homestead in Dry Fork on September 4, 2020.  Virtus was born August 24, 1933 in Vernal to Virtus Charles and Sadie Violet Alexander McConkie.

Virtus grew up at the McConkie Ranch in Dry Fork, Utah, and loved living, hunting and working there.  He enjoyed 4-H growing up and participating in the stock shows.  He graduated from Uintah High School and also worked at the sawmill North of Roosevelt, Utah.  He was married for a few years.  He was a great pool player and loved watching NFL football games.  He also volunteered many hours at the Golden Age Center and enjoyed helping out there.  

Virtus Glen is survived by his brother; Dru McConkie and sisters; Jean McKenzie and Rita Keddy, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother; Bennett Shavanaux. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Blackburn Vernal Mortuary with a viewing from 9:45 - 10:45 prior to the services.  Burial will be in the Dry Fork Cemetery.  

Services are entrusted to the care of Blackburn and Sons Mortuary.
